Abubakar Bello, MD, is the President of AORTIC. He is the immediate past Head of Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at the National Hospital Abuja in Nigeria, where he has served as a clinical oncology consultant and radiation oncologist for almost 15 years.

Opening remarks

Satish Gopal, MD, MPH, is the Director of the Center for Global Health at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). He was appointed in February 2020. In this role he oversees the development of initiatives and collaborations with other NCI divisions, NCI-Designated Cancer Centers.

Keynote topic: Using cancer surveillance data to promote cancer prevention and control

Ahmedin Jemal, DVM, PhD, is Senior Vice President of the Surveillance and Health Equity Science Department of the American Cancer Society (ACS). His primary goal has been to build a strong interdisciplinary team of cancer surveillance, health services, tobacco control, and disparities researchers in order to strengthen the scientific basis for broad and equitable application of cancer prevention and control in the USA and worldwide.

Regional Director, WHO Africa
Opening remarks

Matshidiso Moeti, MB, BS, from Botswana, is the first woman to be elected as WHO Regional Director for Africa. Over the past five years, Dr Moeti has led the transformation of WHO in Africa to ensure the organisation is accountable, effective, and driven by results. A key feature of the Regional Director’s leadership is the cultivation of strong partnerships, both with traditional and new partners.
