Opening remarks
Satish Gopal, MD, MPH, is the Director of the Center for Global Health at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). He was appointed in February 2020. In this role he oversees the development of initiatives and collaborations with other NCI divisions, NCI-Designated Cancer Centers.

Keynote topic: Using cancer surveillance data to promote cancer prevention and control
Ahmedin Jemal, DVM, PhD, is Senior Vice President of the Surveillance and Health Equity Science Department of the American Cancer Society (ACS). His primary goal has been to build a strong interdisciplinary team of cancer surveillance, health services, tobacco control, and disparities researchers in order to strengthen the scientific basis for broad and equitable application of cancer prevention and control in the USA and worldwide.
Regional Director, WHO Africa
Opening remarks
Matshidiso Moeti, MB, BS, from Botswana, is the first woman to be elected as WHO Regional Director for Africa. Over the past five years, Dr Moeti has led the transformation of WHO in Africa to ensure the organisation is accountable, effective, and driven by results. A key feature of the Regional Director’s leadership is the cultivation of strong partnerships, both with traditional and new partners.

Professor CS Pramesh is the Director of the Tata Memorial Hospital and the Professor and Head of Thoracic Surgery at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

Keynote topic: The pandemic’s impact on cancer surveillance in low- and middle-income countries
Donald Maxwell Parkin, MD, graduated in medicine from Edinburgh University in 1968 and with a doctorate in 1985. From 1981 to 2004 he was at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO) in Lyon, France, as head of the Descriptive Epidemiology Unit.

Keynote topic: Surviving after cancer: sexual health
Padaruth Ramlachan, MBChB, graduated with his MBChB from the University of Natal, Durban, South Africa in 1985. Following his career as a General Practitioner, he completed a master’s degree in Health Sciences (Sexual Health) from the University of Sydney in 2007. In 2012, he received the Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine Specialist (FECSM) from the European Union of Medical Specialists.
